Cant connect to internet
Hi everyone, Im in a bit of a mess! Im currently using a laptop with a wireless connection to a belkin 54g which is also connected by cable to a desktop pc. 2wks ago I was hit by what I think is called a root and even though I had Norton it left my laptop dead. After trying to fix the issues that arose the only way out was to take the laptop back to factory settings! Devastating!!! What I learned by crawling through the whole comp was for some reason my IP add was disappearing regularly without me knowing and was classed as no longer secure. Since getting my laptop back, very empty normal start up's just haven't returned. Problems with Symantec first started followed by the loss of internet explorer and now I cant connect full stop! The latest message I've recieved while trying to sort the whole mess out is Windows Operating System; Version: 6.0.6000.16386; Event ID: 6100; Event Source: Microsoft-Windows-Diagnostics-Networking; Is there anyone who can help pls????

If you have configured wireless adapter correctly in Vista and have tried all other possible solutions, then you can give this winsockfix a try.

Hi Colcull, Is the issue resolved after trying Dawoodd's suggestions? If not, I suggest that you upgrade the driver of the wireless network adapter. Please remove the existed driver first. Remove ==================== 1. Click Start. In the Start Search box type "devmgmt.msc" and press Enter. 2. Expand "Network Adapters", double-click on the entry of the wireless network device. 3. Click the tab "Driver", click "Uninstall". 4. Click Start. In the Start Search box type "appwiz.cpl" and press Enter. 5. Remove the entries related to the wireless network adapter. Then, download the latest adapter driver from the computer manufacturer's website and install it. If the issue persists, it may be caused by incorrect settings of the Norton anti-virus. I suggest that you remove the program, and then test if the issue. If the issue does not occur, reinstall the anti-virus again. The program would configure itself to be applied for the system. If the above suggestions do not help, please let me know the model of the laptop. Additionally, if it is possible, try to connect to another Access Point to test if your Access Point has problems.
