Cant connect to VPN anymore, Error 868. Please help - urgent!
Hey guys I'm from Newcastle University and I'm staying in one of the halls of residence. All students use the VPN to connect to the internet. Mine was working perfectly fine until last week when it suddenly crashed. I phoned the ISS service but they couldn't do anything over the phone and advised me to to to the Union shop - where they charged me £65, reinstalling my Windows, saying that was the problem!!! Now I got my laptop back and reinstalled the VPN from the uni's website and even manually, but it's not working!! It keeps saying ''Error 868''. I really don't know what to do anymore. Can anyone please help? This is urgent. Thanks

Hi, This issue can be caused by the DNS servers you are using from your current location of the VPN appear to be hijacking or failing to return the correct DNS response for the destination name. Please check your VPN settings and make sure the VPN server is correct, connect VPN server using IP instead of the server name. Also please check if there is any proxy you are using, temporally disable it, you can follow these steps below: 1 Click “Start” 2 Input “Configure proxy sever” in Search box and press Enter 3 Click the item in “Dial-up and Virtual Private Network settings” and press “Settings” 4 Check if proxy server is set, remove the option “Use a proxy server for this connection” 5 Press “Ok” 6 Then click “LAN settings” in the same window 7 Remove the option of “use automatic configuration script” and “Use a proxy server for your LAN”, you can select “Automatically detect settings” 8 Click “OK” Furthermore, you can disable the firewall on your PC, and if your PC is connect via a router, bypass it for test. If the issue persists, you can login with Clean Boot for test.
