Cant add Windows 7 pro to Domain
I set up Windows 7 Pro on one of my computers and it has connectivity but as soon as I join it to the domain and everything looks good but as soon as I restart it said it can load group policy and I loose Ip. My DNS show the computer and in Active directory. I am using windows server 2003 on my domain controller. I dont know if there is a setting that I have to set on the domain controller since it is windows 7.

Hi, Does the error message pop up on each Windows 7 machine or only certain one? At this stage, I suggest you create a new domain admin profile and login on the machine with the new created profile for a test. In order to troubleshoot the issue, please capture the error message and upload it for research. If the error message cannot be captured, please write down the detail error information. Thanks, Novak

Hi, Please assure the following services are started: Ancillary Function Driver for network; NetIO Legacy TDI Support Driver; Network Store Interface Service. If the issue persists, I suggest you assign a static IP address on the problematic machine to check the result. By the way, does the issue occur on each Windows 7 machine or only one? Meanwhile, please also try the suggestions from the link below: Service Control Manager Event 7024 If the issue still occurs, please upload the Event log to the Skydrive ( www.skydrive.live.com ). Collect Event log ========================= a. Click "Start", input "eventvwr" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search bar and press Enter. b. Right click on "Application" on the left frame, choose "Save Log file As"; in the pop-up window, click to choose the Desktop icon on the left frame, input "app" in the "File name" blank, and then click save. c. Right click on "System", with the same method, save it as "sys". d. Locate the two saved log files on the Desktop and upload them. Thanks, Novak

A few quick questions to what you want me to do. Ancillary Function Driver for network - (how do I start this service and how do I know if it is installed?) NetIO Legacy TDI Support Driver - (how do I start this service and how do I know if it is installed?) Network Store Interface Service - ( This is running which I see in service) You want me to upload then events am I suppose to put it the public folder? *Is thee any thing in group policy that would cause this issue? *I know that I need DHCP client running but it shuts off and when I try to start it it say "Error 5: Access Denied" I am using Domain Admin log in. I can put in a static Ip and it can get on the internet and be not able to ping domain controller with it's IP. Thanks for your help!

Also I did check "Service Control Manager Event 7024" on that Windows 7 computer and it was already set a auto. Can the DHCP look at the Windows 7 and shut downs its DHCP client? It is interesting that I can start some of the services because I dont have permission even though I am log in as domain admin.

Hi, Does the issue occur when manually configuring a static IP address? Please assure the "TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper" service is started. The above two services are depended on this service and you need not configure above services again. This issue can occur by several causes, such as corrupted service, incorrect permission or restricted group policy. At this stage, I suggest you copy the following files on another Windows 7 machine which DHCP Client service can start normally and import them to the problematic one. 1. Locate the dhcpcore.dl file under the folder C:\Windows\System32. Remove the old one and paste the new one. 2. Navigate the following registry key on another Windows 7 machine and export it. Then, please copy and import it on the problematic machine. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Dhcp If the issue persists after performing above suggestions, I suggest you run System File Checker (SFC) to verify whether any system file is corrupted. Thanks, Novak

Novak, I may have found the issue but not for sure! I notice on my Domain controller/ Active directory server that there is an issue with the MSDTC. Can that cause my issues with the windows 7? I have read that to fix the issue is to resetlog for the MSDTC. Do you know the proper way to fix this or reset? I think it is stopped. I know that it shouldn't have any transactions going when resetting it. How do I make sure there is no transactions pending? If this could be the reason could you tell me the step by step instructions to fix it and what the setting are suppose to be? Hope this is the problem that is causing it. Thanks, Scott P.S. I dont have clustering and i have server 2003 standard.

Can you descript the MSDTC issue more detail? This issue can occur by several factors on server side. I suggest you refer to the following article to troubleshoot MSDTC issue. Troubleshooting Problems with MSDTC Thanks, Novak

Is there a possibility that could cause the issue? The reason I ask is I only want to work on one issue at a time unless there is a possibility that could cause the issue. Thanks for the link I will check it out. Thanks, Scott
