Cant Delete a Wireless connection .. delete button is disabled and connection is disabled.. Windows 7
I have just setup a new router on my and everything is working. However, in the Network and Saring/ change network settings, I have 2 connections that I want to remove. I have disabled both of them, but then when you right click, the Delete option remains disabled. Enabling them just shows that neither are connected. I did a drag to the recycle bin, but it said that it could not be deleted, as expected. One of them is Local Area connection, which is OK since i believe its the one for a hardwired connection. The other is unknown. I The bars show full signal, so it seems to be ok other than being unusable. If you select connect to a network, it does not show up. I susspect that this is a failed attempt to make a valid connection, so the second time made a new entry and was succesful. Ive looked and i cant even find anything that tells me what it is trying to connect to. Neither show up in Manage wireless networks. Is there any way to delete these other than via the Registry? If not, there should be.

Hi, Please open Device Manager to check the Adapter's status and try to delete it in Device Manager. Juke Chou TechNet Community Support

Hi.. In network connections, I see 3 things Disabled Broken Connection ( I renamed it to that) Disabled Local Area Connection (i removed the cable and am going wireless) The good one Wireless Network Connection If i look at Data Manager/Network Adapters, I see EDUP Wireless.... Which is good .. its the wireless antenna/card for the desktop Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport adapter Which Im pretty sure is good Realtek PcIe GBE Family Controller Dont know what it is, but i assume its ok So,you can see that nothing there matches to what Im looking to delete. My original problem here is that my PC will no longer connect to the router. This is new behaver that just started recently. I have to manually connect to the network and enter my Wireless Password every time I boot the PC now. So I was trying to get rid of the connections that are not used. That should not be the problem, but I am trying to find what the real problem is. So I thought it may be trying to connect to one of these. The right click/delete in change adapter settings should be enabled and is not. So Im guessing that I am going to have to get into the registry to clean up things. Dont like doing that unless I have to. BTW: Thanks for the response

Well, I got rid of it. Hope it fixes the original problem. 1: Remove the connection entries from the Registry 2: Try to make a new connection with the same name. Use lklkj or whatever for username and pw. It will fail than ask if you want to connect anyway. Answer Yes. Then you can delete it.
