Cannot use Windows Search
Hi! I have a strange problem with the Windows search. When I search for e-mails to me these are the lists but I can not open the results. A dialog box with the note; "The internet connection could not be opened. The protocol" mapi "is not associated with a registered program. Outlook was installed as the default email program. Can someone help me with this problem? The problem occurred after I had used different versions of Office. Office but was never installed side by side. Thanks for the help! Greetings from Germany

I would recommend to uninstall office entirely , reboot and reinstall office. This will re-register the mapi provider and fix the issue. kind regards, Senne MCSA/MCTS/MCP

Would a repair installation of Office not achieve the same result?

Hi, This issue occurs after uninstalling office 2010 and reinstalling 2007. You need to edit registry settings after taking a backup. Add the new key as follows: Location : [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\mapi] New Key : ShellFolder Binary Value : {89D83576-6BD1-4c86-9454-BEB04E94C819} Steps to follow: To take Backup: Go to Start >> run >> type regedit and hit enter. Once the registry editor launches, click on File >> Export >> Save the file. To add new entry: In registry editor, navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\mapi] On the right panel, right click >> New >> String Value >> Enter "ShellFolder" Then once the key is created, right click on "ShellFolder" >> Modify >> Enter "{89D83576-6BD1-4c86-9454-BEB04E94C819}" without quotes. Hope this helps. Regards,Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
