Cannot use Adobe Acrobat PDF printer driver in IE
Hello: Even though I am running Windows 2008, since its and Vista share similar security models, I thought I will post my question here. Besides, I could not find security-related forums on Windows 2008. I have Adobe Acrobat version 8.0 Standard installed on my machine. I can use Adobe PDF printer driver to create a PDF file from any of the Office programs. However, in IE, if I choose the PDF printer Driver and give it a folder and a file name, (c:\temp\mypdf.pdf), I get an error message, "For your computer's security , this filewas saved to the Temporary Internet Files Folder. Do you want to open thsi folder. If I choose yes, it opens up Windows explorer and shown an empty folder under e:/Temp/Temporary Intrenet Files/Virtualized. Can somebody tellmehow I cna resolve this issue Thanks. Venki

Hello: A little research led to to the solution. Under Tools/Internet Options/Security, the checkbox Enable Protected Mode was checked. When I unchecked it, I was able to create a PDF from IE. venki

This seems like a very insecure way to resolve your problem (which I also have). Disabling Protected Mode is not advisable. Have you discovered a more focused solution? ie, one that allows specifically for Acrobat printing, while not completely opening up security on the computer?

Microsoft, this SUCKS! Not being able to use my print driver is inapporpriate. Taking the browser out of protected mode to print PDFs of web pages is not an appropriate solution. Please comment.
