Cannot sync Vista time with AD environment using W32time service
I've been having a great deal of trouble getting several laptops to sync with AD time. Most machines in our environment work without a problem. However, a few of our laptops will not sync. When I enter a W32tm /resync command, I get "The computer did not resync because no time data was available". I've attached our debug log from W32tm below when I stopped/started W32time and did a w32tm /resync. I've also made sure my firewall was disabled and uninstalled any AV / security software. When I do a 'netstat /a' I don't see UDP port 123 open so I'm not sure if something is preventing this port from opening or of the time service isn't getting that far. When I do a W32tm /query /status, I get the following: Leap Indicator: 3(last minute has 61 seconds) Stratum: 0 (unspecified) Precision: -6 (15.625ms per tick) Root Delay: 0.0000000s Root Dispersion: 0.0000000s ReferenceId: 0x00000000 (unspecified) Last Successful Sync Time: unspecified Source: Local CMOS Clock Poll Interval: 10 (1024s) Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet forums. Try the following steps to fix the time synchronization issue: 1. Click Start ---> Run 2. Type "regedit" and press "Enter" 3. Navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Parameters" 4. Double-click on "Type" and replace "NTP" with "NT5DS" 5. Now try to synchronize the windows time. (If it doesn't work, try again after restarting your computer) Best Regards Magon Liu TechNet Subscriber Support in forum.
