I am a general computer user who can follow common basic instructions and hoping someone can help.  Turned on computer this morning and logged into windows 8.1 (as usual) with my microsoft account log-in.  Nothing happened, that spinning wheel thing just keeps going around and around.

Went onto the laptop (to find answers).  Have spent the day following suggestions but nothing is working.

- changed microsoft log in password - relogged into windows 8 computer - no luck

- tried system restore but computer does not have a restore point

- tried system refresh but it gets to 62% when I put in disc and says it cannot do anymore

- tried start up repair - will not perform it

- Language is US

I have run out of ideas and online help instructions.  I can sign into the microsoft account on my laptop but it will not work on my windows 8 computer.  Without the password I cannot get into the computer. Help please
