Cannot share printer Cannon MF3110 from desktop Windows XP to laptop Windows 7
I have Windows XP on my desktop with a Cannon MF310 printer. I have a new laptop with Windows 7 64-bit. I cannot figure out how to share the printer with my laptop. There is no Cannon driver for Wndows 64-bit. I saw on another site www.dragonblogger.com, this link for a driver http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=335&modelid=11148. I have tried to figure this out, but most of the posts are about configuring a desktop with Windows 7 64 bit to the Cannon MF3110. I want to be able to share FROM my desktop with XP TO my laptop with Windows 7 64-bit. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I need detailed steps please as I am not that much of a tech person. Thank you.

Hi, You could refer to the following article: Share Your Printer Over a Home Network Using Windows XP To add a share printer in Windows 7, you could perform the following steps: 1. Click Start, click Control Panel and double click Devices and Printers. 2. Click Add a Printer. 3. Select "Add a local printer". 4. Select "Create a new port". Choose "Local Port" as the type of the port. 5. In the box "Enter a port name", type the address as the following format. \\[IP address of the host computer]\[The Share Name of the printer] Then click Next. 6. Follow the instruction to finish the installation. During installing, choose the correct driver in the driver list. Due to the printer is old, and there is no applicable driver for it, you need contact Cannon to ask for a driver which is suitable for Windows 7: Canon U.S.A.
