Cannot send emails.
I set up my new computer and everything is working great except I am unable to send email. I get an error message everytime. I can send emails. I spoke with my network and service providers and both are sure it is a firewall somewhere in my virus software. HELP! I have no idea how to find that or take care of it. I am using Windows XP. I looked at similar questions and answers are too technical for me to understand. I am not very tech-savy. Thanks.

You have a new computer with XP, and this is a Windows 7 forum. What e-mail client are you using? What error message do you see? everything is working great except I am unable to send email. I get an error message everytime. I can send emails. So you can send, or you can't send? Please post the error message in its entirety. You can left click on it to highlight and then right click to copy and then paste it into this thread.Bruce Hagen ~ MS-MVP [Mail]

I have already checked with both of them and confirmed that it is not their firewalls. Both suggested it was probably my virus software. The last error message I got was: Server Error: 0X800CCC90. Server Response: ERR too many arguments for the USER command. Server: 'cgmailbox.com. Windows Live Mail ERROR ID: 0X800CCC91. Protocol: POP3 Port: 110 Can you help? Thanks.

The instructions should tell you to use your full email address and what settings to use for pop3 server, smtp server, and authentication.
