Cannot see other computers in homegroup
Let me give you some background: I have a pc and a laptop, both with Windows 7 installed. If I create a homegroup on my PC, my laptop doesn't see it, and wants to create it's own homegroup. If I create a homegroup on my laptop, my desktop can join it, but the laptop doesn't see that it is joined. The PC can retrieve shared files on the laptop, but not the other way around. Both machines can ping each other by computer-name. IPv6 is enabled on both machines. I have tried disabling firewalls on both machines. At one point I was able to \\computername\ in explorer and see the shared content from my laptop, but after re-trying the homegroup the ability is gone. I am at my wits end, and haven't seen any way to solve the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Another note, I guess my laptop recognizes the desktop once I join the homegroup, but even after sharing libraries with the homegroup, i still get the "No other homegroup computers are currently available" message

Please help confirm the network configuration. Are you using a router? If so, please check if the 2 computers are in a same workgroup. Also confirm the following settings on both computers:Also choose "Alow Windows to manage homegroup connections".Then Remove HomeGroup on both computer first and try to recreate on one of them.

Have you checked if both computers are in the same workgroup? You can change them to a new workgroup to have a test.Meanwhile, the actives network should be "Home network" but not others like "public network" etc.

They are both in the same workgroup, and are both in the same 'home' network.

Do you by chance have Norton Security Suite installed? If so, uninstall it and try againMCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. I am running COMODO on both machines, I tried turning it off on both machines, with no luck. I was able to switch network adapters on my PC from wired to wireless, and that KINDA worked for a few minutes. I saw the shared libraries, but none of the files contained within. EDIT: I turned off the COMODO firewalls again, and it seems to be working for now. I cannot "play to" in WMP, which is one of the reasons I wanted to use homegroup in the first place. Also, in order to keep this working, my PC has to be connected WIRELESSLY, which I don't really like. The second I switch back to my other adapter, it ceases to work.

Hi,As COMODO firewall may be the cause, if you accept (and if you have the installation file or CD), let's remove it from computer and try again.
