Cannot see non vista PC's after aplying Vista SP1 RC v.668
I just installed Vista Sp1 on my desktop and now the "Net" discoery wont find nor see non vista PC's running Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 (all of them with full updates). I am able to ping and connect to network shares using \\server\shared_resource. but PC's wont show on VIsta SP1 No errors are reported and the network works fine My desktop could see alll PC's just before I applied Vista SP1 Right by me is my laptop without SP1 and it can see and connect to all other PCs The progress (bar) is much faster than on my Laptop but it seems to give up after just 1 or 2 seconds ( I read that speed was a bug fix for SP1) Anyone has this problem? ramonb@yahoo.com

Hi Ramon, Thank you for the post. Before we go further, I would like to confirm the following points with you: 1. Is it a domain or a workgroup environment? 2. Are all computers located in the same subnet? Meanwhile, please perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue: Verify that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is bound to the connected interface. Please temporarily disable/uninstall third party firewall and antivirus (some applications must be uninstalled to remove the effects, disabling the software may still allow the associated system drivers to load). Please download browstat.exe from the following link to the Windows Vista machine (installed SP1):https://sftasia.one.microsoft.com/choosetransfer.aspx?key=a2360812-78b9-4b15-a420-d47c5ea4cc83Password: Sd^MpbO72dRWdFbJAfter that, type the command browstat status to check the master browser server on the segment. Then, type the command Browstat view <transport> \\Server to view the service list. For more information, please refer to the KB article 188305:Troubleshooting the Microsoft Computer Browser Servicehttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/188305 Additionally, there is a forum dedicated to Windows Vista SP1 related issues. You are welcomed to post the issue on the forum listed below: Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1)http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=1992&SiteID=17 Hope it helps. Joson, thank you for your post The answer to your questions are Yes, We use a workgroup environment, all PCs are on same workgroup MEDICINA Yes all PCuse the same subnet. We have approx 20-25 PC's on the net, so no real need for an active directory in our 2003 Servers, our branch sites have our own software thet implementsVPN's even on different nets. (This is due to the fact that we have X Ray machines that have dissimilar fixed IP addresses) I will inmediately download the files you suggested and give it a try asap, I will let you know what happenes. Thank You
