Cannot see SBS 2003 network shares on Windows 7 Ultimate machine
I recently purchased a Win 7 Ultimate laptop and want to be able to connect to my domain at work through the wireless router. Connection works fine and i can see the network. I can even drill into the server (credentials requested) and see the entire directory structure (similar to how my mac sees it) but the network shares (4 of them) do not automatically populate in "my computer" as they do on my XP machine that is wired to the router. I know that the login script on the server should define these but i do not understand why i can see them on the laptop. Do i need to Map the drives once for the laptop?

Kind of a vague description of your setup with which to go on. More detail would be helpful. Is your laptop joined to the Domain? Or are you just browsing the Network machines/shares available as a Guest? Permissions and priviledges are pretty straightforward if (A) the computer belongs to the Domain and (B) you logon to the Domain with a User Account that has the appropriate Group memberships to access the Shares. Beyond that, you have Group and Security policies that may be in play as well affecting new machines on the network. My Computer only shows mapped network drives and shares that you have manually connected to in the past. Obviously, the DC's logon script(s) can setup your environment (if you are joined to the Domain) when you login. Other than that, there could be any number of things that you need to check in order to "see" let alone "connect" to the network shares."It's a tough life... but someone has to enjoy it!"
