Cannot run firefox or other excutables
I've been running Firefox for years. Today (12/4/10) for some reason, Firefox would not load. I checked processes and firefox.exe was running but no window or application opened. I uninstalled it and then ran several malware, trojan, spyware programs and got three trojans found which I then whacked. When I try to run the firefox install program it won't run. I tried also using Chrome but I keep getting unstable page errors with it. I had to reboot several time just to get IE8 to run. Any idea what's happening? It sounds like your computer has contracted a virus or is afflicted with some variety of malware. The same thing happened to my uncle and it was some horrendous malware that was virtually impossible to clean. He finally took the computer in to get it straightend out and they had to clean the hard drive and reinstall everything. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Most experts will tell you that After you've been compromised, you can never be truly clean without wiping the drive and re-installing. This is why it's so important to catch malware before you are infected (firewalls, active scan monitoring software, etc). If this was helpful, please vote by clicking the green triangle. Hi, According to your description, maybe a system restore can help you solve this issue. You can restore to the point that the firefox was working fine.
