well - it could be because you are not using the right command, or using the
right command, but on the wrong partition/drive.
The correct syntax is
CHKDSK /F (note the space?)
however, that will only check the system drive - you may need to run it on
the other drives as well.
CHLDSK D: /F for the D: drive.....
etc.
(note - don't try and run CHKDSK on CD/DVD drives! - it won't work <g>)

Hello
terrystephens16
Go to "Start" "Run" type in "msconfig" without the quotes. When window opens select on first tab "General" select "normal Startup" Click apply and OK
Have a look in the Msconfig>Boot.ini tab. Make sure that "/SOS" is unchecked in the Boot Options section. If it is checked then it will cause chkdsk to do check
on every boot.
If you continue to have the problem with CHKDSK then from a command prompt window (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt)
At the prompt type
CHKNTFS /D (there is a space before /)
Enter
Reboot
Chkdsk will run again, but hopefully that will be the last time it does so.
