Cannot re-establish shares to WHS folders after using a restore point on an Lenovo Vista laptop
My network includes a Media Center XP box (HP), two Vista Business Laptops (HP and Lenovo) and an Acer Aspire server running WHS. All this was running perfect with shares set up properly and mapping to the folders on the server. Then on the Lenovo machine a failed software install caused me to restore from a earlier restore point. After the restore everything was back to normal except that all the shares on it were red xed out as being off line and all attempts to bring them online have failed. I first tried to disconnect and remap and things got worse. When doing an explore /expand of network, two of the folders (music and photos) don't even show when expanding the server name, so I cannot remap them. The remaining share that shows is one that was synced between the Vista laptop and the server. It's only available off line, so I am only seeing the cached version on the laptop. On the other Vista laptop and the XP box everything is perfect, all mapped and fully accessible online. When I go into properties for the folder I can still see on the problem laptop all the sync buttons are greyed out and the checkbox for connect will not accept an entry.. Even more strange is that with the Music folder on the server, when I run windows media player it can see the music files that Vista now cannot. All my updates on all the boxes are up to date and on automatic. I could really use some advise on this one.
