Cannot print to Windows 7 shared printer through VPN
Hey, I have a home PC running Windows 7 Pro 64bit with a shared printer attached to it. I connect to the office through the Sonicwall Global VPN Client and am able to connect to our office server (running Unix). I have the shared printer configured on the Unix server but cannot print to it through the VPN. It can see my home Windows 7 PC, but cannot establish a connection to print. To troubleshoot I also tried printing from a Windows XP machine at the office, as well as a Windows 7 machine. Nothing seems to be able to print to this shared printer through the VPN. I have had this layout working perfectly when I used to use Windows XP, and I am guessing that there is a security option in Windows 7 that is not allowing this (I had turned off the Win 7 firewall, but didn't help). I hope this is enough information. Thanks in advance for your suggestions, Adam -EDIT- I just ran a bunch more tests and was able to get the printing working from Windows XP through the VPN to the Windows 7 shared printer. However still cannot print from Unix server.

You need to choose compatible driver in Windows 7. First, you have to click the ‘Start’ button and select and ‘All Programs’. Then, go to ‘Accessories’ and select ‘System Tools’ and then click ‘System Information’. Then, you have to select the ‘System Summary’ and then review the OS Name and System type to find out which version of operating system you are running. Then, accordingly choose the network printer driver for your computer.Printer Support

The Unix server prints to the printer using raw pcl commands, and no windows driver is being used.
