Cannot print from network computer(s). Edited & Rewritten
I have three computers on my home/workgroup network. The main computer is connected by cable and the other two computers, a desktop and a laptop are connected wirelessly. The printer is wire connected to the main computer. Although everything worked in the past I can no longer print from either of the two computers connected wirelessly. Both wireless connected computers have XP and the hard wired main computer has Windows 7. I can print from the hard cable wired, main computer. Both wireless computers have an icon in Control Panel>Printers and Faxes showing a hand held printer and the icon indicates the printer is "ready" and both of these icons show the printer icon as being the correct default printer. I might have changed something which is now causing this problem but I cannot pinpoint what was changed. I know I had to change from homegroup to workgroup because all three computers did not have Windows 7 and somehow I might have changed the name of a computer. If this is causing the problem I really do not know. All three computers can acces the internet and all computers' email works fine and I have no problem downloading or sending out email messages on any computer. I assume your setup is one router, with the main computer connected to it. The main computer also has a printer connected to it (the printer is connected to the computer, not the router). The other two computers are connected to the router wirelessly.I would just try to reinstall the printer. On the main computer, Right click my computer and select properties. Select the computer name tab.See what workgroup is listed. Now check on the other computers; make sure they are all on the same workgroup. Change if neccessary. After that click, go back to the main computer, right click the printer, and select properties. Make sure it is shared. Also check the share name.Right clcik on my network places on the other computers. Make sure you can see all other computers. If you had to change the workgroup sometimes it takesseveral minutes for them to appear in your workgroup. If you can see them you should be able to click the main computer and see the shared printer. You might want to delete the current printer then reinstall it.Let me know if this helps.
