Cannot open any web pages in any browser.
I have a rather unique problem I have not encounter before. I have Windows Vista Home Premium. I recently developed a problem where I cannot browse to any web page despite the fact that all my network connections are fine and I can still use web dependent applications such as Windows Update. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have decided to do a system restore to a previous date and this of course has fixed my problem. Don't know what the caused the problem in the first place though.

Hi Rebelcircuit, The issue can be caused by one of the following factors: Network connectivity issue or network-related issue such as DNS resolve. Malware. A conflict with firewall or a firewall configuration issue. Third-party software or Internet connections settings issues. Internet Explorer configuration settings. Certain core Windows files are corrupted or missing. For your reference, the following are some general troubleshooting steps for such issues:=========================== Please refer to the steps in the KB article 926431 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926431). Also, please perform a full scan using antivirus software to make sure that we have not installed malware unconsciously. If the steps cannot resolve the issue, please try the following suggestions to reset IE:2.1 Disable all add-ons:-------------------Right-click the Internet Explorer icon on the Desktop, and then click Start Without Add-ons.If you do not have an IE icon on the Desktop, please click start, click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). 2.2 If disabling all add-ons resolves the issue, please use Add-ons Manager to narrow the issue down on the problematic add-on.2.3 If disabling add-ons doesnt resolve the issue, please try to reset IE back to its default settings:------------------a. Close all IE or Windows Explorer windows.b. Open a new IE window.c. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.d. Click Advanced tab, and then click Reset.e. Close IE and reopen it to apply the changes. If the issue persists, please reboot the machine and logon to Safe Mode with Networking to check the result. For more information, please refer to the following KB article 936214:How to troubleshoot compatibility problems that affect Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vistahttp://support.microsoft.com/?id=936214 If the issue occurs in Safe Mode with Networking, we can infer that certain Windows Resource Protection (WRP) file may be missing or corrupted. Thus, please refer to the steps in the KB article 936212 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936212/) to repair the system. Hope the information is helpful.
