Cannot mouse over upper left hand corner on dual monitors

Hello there

So after installing and tweaking windows 8, some small annoyances remain. One of them that i encounter every day is as follows:

I have 2 monitors. Primary on the right, secondary on the left.

If i take my cursor up to the top left of the primary monitor, it gets "stuck" and will not move over to the left hand screen (secondary monitor). I believe this is caused by the APP bar which I have disabled as per (http://www.ghacks.net/2012/08/19/disable-windows-8-mouse-over-corner-interfaces/). However the problem still remains. If i go aproximately 10 pixels down from the upper left hand corner, i can mouse over to the other screen fine. No menu comes up, my cursor just hits a wall. I have made sure both montior tops are in line in the screen resolution screen.

I tried to shoot a video of it, but of course camstudio does not work in windows 8 (sigh).

steps to reproduce are, drag your mouse to the very top left corner with the intention of moving it to the second monitor.

How can i disable? I have tried the GPO setting for EdgeUI which creates the registry key ( DisableTLcorner) in the link above.

As a bit of background, if one is constantly using VNC to manage other peoples computers, I do not want to steal focus from their mouse by dragging my cursor over the centre of the screen. So i bring my mouse cursor to the very top (title bar area) and try and move between screens. Obviously this is a windows 8 "feature". Anyone else annoyed by this? is there some fix?

thanks

Hi,

The extend screen action is controlled by graphic driver.

I suggest you update the graphic driver from manufacturer's website and then use the High performance on the graphic driver in Power option.

To avoid the failing to load driver issue which may be caused by fast startup feature, please disable it to check the results.

How to Turn "Fast Startup" On or Off for a Hybrid Boot in Windows 8 and 8.1

Would you please check the event log to see if there is any related error?

Updated nvidia drivers to 334.89. No change.

This is becauase it has nothing to do with the graphics drivers. It is caused by windows 8 charm. the same thing happens at the bottom of the screen on the left side too, only i never mouse over at the bottom so i never noticed.

If i deactivate the corner hot areas, it should disable them completely, not leave a dead zone.

Hi,

Have you also updated the Monitor driver under device manager?

We also need more information about this issue, please provide the event below for our research:

Please upload them to a file sharing service like Onedrive or "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

Um no, I have never in my life found that installing a monitor driver ever fixed anything.

there is nothing in the application log that has anything to do with this problem as its a mouse event. No event is obviously generated when i am moving the mouse around the screen.

you cannot reproduce? I have installed a few more windows 8s and the problem exists on every single one.

here is a video of the event. Finaly got camstudio working properly, just have to do the whole screen. in the video, i try and move the mouse in the upper left and lower left of the screen. the two screens are different wallpapers to make it easier to see.

I have managed to find a service that allows uploads, the video file is here so you can see what im talking about. I hope that makes it clearer.

Both monitors i have are the same size, so your hack will not work.

Plus then my monitors would be forever misaligned. I have a new computer now, new monitors and the problem remains. I guess it doesn't bother many people as much as it bothers me because i fail to see how anyone using windows 8 with dual monitors wouldnt have the same problem.
