Cannot modify some text-files
I just got new laptop with Vista and played around for quite a while. I installed apache + mysql + php, since I have some LAMP-projects to work with. After rebooting laptop I haven't been able to modify any apache files, such as httpd.confI have only one user account, which is of course admin account, but I haven't figured out how to edit this file, since both "edit" and notepad are stating that access is denied or cannot create such a file (even though saving is supposed to just overwrite this file). I am able to delete this file after User Access Confirmation. Any ideas?edit: I changed folder from read only to full priviledge, but still no luck. Overwriting with save still gives error. I also tried to save httpd.conf as httpd2.conf, which led to this msg: "<directory is here> You don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission. Would you like to save in the documents folder instead?"I'm locked with admin account, so I'm still confused?

This might be UAC related, Can you pleae try this Run cmd "as administrator"., right click the CMD.exe and select run as administrator run your notepad.exe from this command prompt. Regards Santhi

I can't believe we can't edit a simple text file (.txt), but yet if I edit a .bat file I don't have an issue. Does anyone understand how dumb this is? I also found that for my .txt files if the Local Users group don't have full control, I get UAC involved and can edit file. Not true for .bat files. If I increase the permissions for Local Users to full control, I can edit the text files without UAC intervention.
