Cannot join Vista B2 Ultimate Bld. 5384 to Domain
Can anyone help? Here is my scenario: Dell Latitude D620 DC2.16 laptop fully compatible with Vista. I have a legacy NT Domain and I cannot join the system with Vista Bld. 5384 to the domain. I can see every computer in the domain. I can connect to and browse all the system. I can get on internet. I can access network storage devices. Only thing I cannot do is join to domain. I get error stating "Invalid Username or Bad Password". Can someone help?

I am getting the same error with Build 5472. Does anyone have any insight into this issue? Is Vista compatible with NT 4 domains at all? Is there anything that can be tweaked to resolve that? Thank you.

I found this in an older thread With the default settings Vista won't authenticate to a NT domain. You haveto lower the authentication level Vista uses."Run as administrator" secpol.mscUnder Local Policies > Security OptionsChange the value of "Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level"from "NTVLM2 responses only" to "LM and NTLM - use NTLMv2 session securityif negotiated"Note that I last tried this with build 5384. Newer builds may need adifferent fix.--KerryMS-MVP Windows - Shell/Userhttp://www.vistahelp.ca/forum/Forum.htm but it didn't work in build 5472
