Cannot install
I bought an ipod and after the install has run I get a message that says that the system administrator has set policies to prevent the install. This is my computer. I am the sole user. I thought I was the admin by default. How do I logon and change these policies?

Hi, This issue may occur if you are not logged on to the computer as an administrator. Please open Control Panel -> User Accounts. There you will see if your account is an administrator or a standard user. And you can change your account type if necessary. If the above is not your scenario, please click Start and run "gpedit.msc", navigate to Local Computer Policy -> computer configuration -> administrator templates -> windows components -> windows installer, double-click "disable windows installer", set it as "Not Configured". Hope it helps.

My account is an administator. Apparently there are default settings that I do not know how to change. I will try to run the gpedit.msc, but Vista has no "Run" option in the start menu. How do I get gpedit.msc to run? Is it a right or left click on Start?

Hi, XP's 'Run' command has been incorporated into Vista's 'Start Search'.Just use Vista's new Start Search dialog box, in the same wayyou use the old 'Run' command in XP.
