Cannot get rid of disconnected drive???
I am running Windows 7 N Enterprise on an x64 box. Recently we removed a couple XP machines from our network after they crashed. I had been mapped to a drive on that XP box, but the machine is gone now. However, I still show Drive K: on my Windows 7 box which is a map to the now-gone XP box. I cannot disconnect or delete this drive and I have been all over the help file and the web and nothing explains how to do this (what must be simple) task. Instead, the drive appears day after day and when I right-click on it and select "Disconnect", it tells me the drive is disconnected!!! Uh, Yeah, I got that - now how the heck do I get rid of this no longer needed mapping??? Delete wont work, disconnect wont work... Whats the deal??? Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer with this seemingly simple task.

Try this on the command prompt to delete all the mapped drives. If you have UAC enabled, open command prompt with elevated (administrator) permissions, Net user * /delete regards, Vik

Vik, Thanks for the reply, but that is a bit of a "nuclear" solution... I dont want to delete the many mapped drives just to get rid of one that is actually not there. None the less, after about three reboots, the drive disappeared. Odd, but on my Vista machine, and my XP machines, these usually just go away when disconnected, but on Windows 7, they dont. Lesson learned - do multiple reboots. Thanks.
