Cannot get VPN to work between 2 Win 7 pro systems
Hi, On site 1, with ISP1, I configured PC1 (Win 7 pro 64) for Incoming Connections. It is effectively a PPTP VPN-server. Everything configured by the book. On site 1 I forwarded port 1723 to PC1's IP address. On site 2, with ISP2, I configured PC2 (Win 7 pro 64) as VPN-client by the book. I turned all PC firewall and Avast IS temporarily off but left both router firewall on. The VPN-Client PC2 can connect throught both ISP's networks to VPN-server PC1 but no file shares or data traffic is possible. Traffic stalls after +/- 300 bytes). The connection status shows "No IPv4 Connectivity" while IPv4 is enabled. IPv6 disabled. I used WinXP pro (32) tools pptpsrv.exe & pptpclnt.exe to diagnose the problem. GRE packets do not arrive a the VPN-server side. I exchanged the tools, same result. Both ISP's said not to block GRE. I cannot change to IPsec / L2TP as (to my knowledge) as this is only available in Win7 pro as VPN-client (not as VPN-server). Correct me if I'm wrong. How can I make this work or pinpoint the cause ??? Kind regards, John

If the client can connect to site 1 properly, there should not be issues on your client. How does it work if you connect to the site 2 from other networks? I suggest you turn off router firewall of the site 2 and the client site and check the result. If the issue does not occur, we can confirm that the issue is caused by the firewalls. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
