Cannot get Remote Destop Connection working (behind router w/ Comcast as service provider, do not have static IP)
Is there a good tutorial somewhere? I am not able to remote desktop to my home PCs from a different location. I do not have a static IP from Comcast but did not think I needed one. If someone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You can use a free service like No-IP.com or DynDNS to map the DHCP assigned IP address from Comcast to a fully qualified domain name (FQDN). Many consumer grade routers support both of those which are free by the way. Check the user guide for your router. If your router does not support those you can download a small program from either one that runs on one of your computers. The program, or the router, contacts the No-IP.com or DynDNS servers on a time scheduled basis. The server then know your current IP and maps that to your FQDN. That information is then propagated over the public internet. In either case you call home using the FQDN.Presuming you have TCP Port 3389 forwarded through your router to the target Remote Desktop [RDC] PC you will connect.http://theillustratednetwork.mvps.org/RemoteDesktop/RemoteDesktopSetupandTroubleshooting.html#Call_SchemesWindows 7 specific help...http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Search?q=remote+desktop&prd=Windows7A note about testing.
