Cannot get Peer Networking Identity Manager to run without Error 5: Access Denied.
I have read the existing threads on homegroups. How can I get Peer Networking Identity Manager to run WITHOUT an error? What causes error 5?

Hi 9mmkungfu, Peer Networking Identity Manager service depends on the below components, try to start them first and then check for the issue: · Peer Name Resolution Protocol · Peer Networking Grouping Also, open networking troubleshooters and see if the issue can be resolved: Open networking troubleshooters If the issue still exists, try the following suggestions: 1. Click the Start Button, type "cmd" (without quotation marks), in the search result list, right click on Cmd.exe and select Run as administrator. Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue. 2. In the popup window, type the following command and press Enter: Net stop p2pimsvc 3. Access the following folder and clear all files inside: C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking 4. Click the Start Button, type "cmd" (without quotation marks), in the search result list, right click on Cmd.exe and select Run as administrator. 5. In the popup window, type the following command and press Enter: Net start p2pimsvc After that, please check whether the service can be started or not. If the issue persists, please run System File Checker to troubleshoot the issue. Hope this helps.
