Cannot fax from PC application using standard user account on windows 7
I have an HP Printer (fax, scan ...) connected via ethernet. 2 Windows 7 machines on network. When I use the installed "Fax - HP Officejet Pro 8600" printer driver to fax from Notedpad, Word, or just 'Print Test Page' from it's properties dialog, the job is cancelled after "spooling..." for a minute. This problem happens happens on all ADDITIONAL accounts created on Windows 7 Professional. The PRIMARY ADMIN account (first account created after install) works just fine. This happens on both Win7 machines. HP says it is a security - group policy problem, something like that, but could not find me a windows solution. I have run the gambit (adding user to security tab for driver, tried PowerUser group, etc.) trying to solve. Trying these changes, I could see one could set rights to maintain printer to a new user and this type of stuff worked (as should) adding or removing users from security tab for printer. Simply put, EVERYTHING about this printer works on PRIMARY ADMIN account. EVERYTHING but "using printer driver to send fax from application in a SECONDARY (STANDARD or ADMIN) account created on the machine". Thanks in advance for any help or assitance.IT SudsCity - Oxford, OH

Hi, At the beginning of troubleshooting, I want to know whether these are domain based computer? I suggest that you create a new administrator account then check the problem in this account again. Also you could try to reinstall the application to make sure it is installed properly. William Tan TechNet Community Support

Thanks for replying, All PCs set up with a workgroup, I believe for now this is required due to an older OS on the network. I did created a second ADMIN account and the problem shows their also. It only appears to work with the PRIMARY Administrative account. IT SudsCity - Oxford, OH
