Cannot establish Remote Desktop Connection from XP laptop to Win 7 Home Premium-64 desktop.
The Remote Desktop Options appearing under the Remote Tab on the System Properties diaglog box in the example found in the MS Help Webite: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Connect-to-another-computer-using-Remote-Desktop-Connection are not present on the Win 7 screen on my desktop. The area is blank in my dialog box with no means of opening a connection. Why are the Remote Desktop Options for hosting remote access from my laptop missing from my copy of Win 7? How can the remote access be established? FYI, my XP laptop can access files from the Win 7 desktop via my home network, but remote access is needed for travel.

Hi, You can't use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to computers running Windows 7 Starter, Windows 7 Home Basic, or Windows 7 Home Premium. Only computers running Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate, or Windows 7 Enterprise can be connected. Please read: Which editions of Windows 7 include Remote Desktop Connection? Dale, thank you. This link never popped up for me after lots of searches for RDC on the website. The HP "tech support" people never found it either. Would have saved me alot of grief. This feature is very important to me, and was not listed/highlighted on the site comparing the different features of each edition when I bought my new desktop. At least now I know, which is all I wanted in the first place. Thanks for getting back.
