Cannot download and install programs, or they won't operate when installed
In the last two months all of a sudden some programs will no longer work and I cannot install new programs.Ex 1 I have SKYPE downloaded and installed and was using it no problem, now I cannot open it up for use on my computer. If someone calls me I can access it and use it.Ex 2 I cannot install the Blackberry connection on the computer. I can download the program to my desk top, it starts the install and then fails to install.I did a restore on the computer last night to back to September when things were working. This did not help??

Hi,1. Did you make any changes to the computer recently?2. Do you get any error message when you try to install the Blackberry connection? There is possibility that another 3rd party installed program or application is causing the conflict with this installation. Also launch Skype in clean startup and check. You are required to perform a clean boot to find the program that is causing this and then disable or remove it.How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" statehttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353/en-usNote: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow the steps as explained in the article to reset the computer to start as usual. Hope this helps. Thanks and Regards:Shekhar S - Microsoft Support. Visit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think. Have you looked in Event Viewer? To access the System log select Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer, from the list in the left side of the window select Windows Logs and System. Place the cursor on System, right click and select Filter Current Log. Check the box before Error and click on OK and you see only Error reports. Click on the Date and Time Header to sort. You may need to click a second time to see the latest Report at the top. A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double click on the error you want to copy. Click on the Copy button to place a copy on your Clipboard and close Event Viewer. Now start your message and paste into the body of the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from Event Viewer.Hope this helps, Gerry Cornell
