Cannot discover 'Media Device', tried everything.
I have three computers, two running Win7 x64 and one Win7 x86. All with the exact same sharing settings on to allow easy LAN sharing. My problem is that one of the x64 versions refuses to see any 'Media Devices ' in the Network, it can see all the 'Computers ' in 'Network '. So the basic Networking seems fine, just discovering the 'Media Device ' part is not. The two PC's that can see Media Devices are the wireless laptops, the missing PC is my main desktop, wired. I have tried many things, all the basic fixes read about in forums but nothing seems to be working. Change the Streaming options in Windows Media Player, went into the Services.msc adjusting 'SSDP Discovery ' and 'uPnP Device' made sure all PC's have the same workgroup name and time set. I uninstalled my A/V to see if it was blocking, but it wasn't, turned off Windows Firewall. I have been working at this no stop for days now. My desktop also refuses to join the Homegroup , think this might be connected somehow. When I create a Homegroup with my Desktop, the two laptops cannot find it to join. So my two laptops (wireless) discover each other and their 'Media Devices ', they 'Homegroup ' fine, and connect to my PS3 (wireless). Everything that I wish my Desktop would do! Thank you for any time on this Caspersim

does the problematic computer have dual wired connections or two NICs? On Thu, 6 Jan 2011 21:11:48 +0000, Caspersim wrote: > > >I have three computers, two running Win7 x64 and one Win7 x86. I have been in contact with my ISP (Telus) and they seem to have it figured out. They claim that it is the D-Link router itself preventing that kind of networking. They are sending me a different one to see if that fixes the problem. Thanks for your help
