Cannot create Adhoc connection
Hi All, I have Vista home premium with Service pack 1 installed. I have been trying to create an adhoc connection, but I cannot do so as it give me no error, but just indicates " Windows could not setup sony" sony is my adhoc connection name. Here is my path for setting up adhoc connection and that is diffrent then most of vista versions: Network and Internet -> Manage Wireless network-> Add -> Create an adhoc network Please kindly help me create adhoc connection as i cannot fine anything on google or on microsoft site. Hi dude! article specified by you covers adhoc connection betwenn two or more machines runing MS Vista. am having problem with Vista n XP interopratibility! my host PC is runing Vista Ultimate (SP1) and Igot XP SP2 on may notebook (Dell Latitude D600).early i have beenusing adhoc between twoXp machines and evry thing was fine, bt since I have Installed Vista on main PC, both computer didnt detect each other! anyadvise? I ll be thankfull.

Hi Neo, This behavior occurs if the driver on the Windows Vista computer is correct. I suggest that you find the Windows Vista compatible network adapter driver and reinstall the driver. Before reinstalling, follow the steps below to remove the existed driver. 1. Click Start. In the Start Search box type "devmgmt.msc" and press Enter. 2. Expand "Network Adapters", double-click on the entry of the wireless network device. 3. Click the tab "Driver", click "Uninstall". 4. Click Start. In the Start Search box type "appwiz.cpl" and press Enter. 5. Remove the entries related to the wireless network adapter. Hope it helps.

Hi Arthur,The article did not help, butfollowing step #5 of the article gives me my same old messagewhen savingad-hoc connection, it just tells me " Windows could notsetup ad-hoc". I have a Sony Vaio FZ430E series laptop and the wireless card is:Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGNI have reinstalled latest driver for my wireless card as well, butdid not helpThanks for your help!!Naveed

i suggest that you turn on your wireless signal switch before creating a Ad Hoc connection ..im using dell inspiron laptop, my wireless switch is found on the function key . . hope it helps god bless

thanks it worked for me. i was having the same problem but as soon as i switch on my adapter and create the the network it worked. thanks for your help...
