Cannot connect to the internet through a WAN using Windows 7
I recently purchased a new laptop that is running Windows 7. I am able to connect it to my company's WAN, but cannot connect to the internet. I was able to connect to the internet through this WAN with my old laptop running Vista. There are currently several other computers connected to the internet through the same switch (including the one I am using now), so I know the internet is available on the network. The connection is set to obtain an IP address automatically and to obtain DNS server address automatically in both TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6. I've tried everything I know to fix the problem including disabling and re-enabling the network adapter and even uninstalling the network adapter and allowing windows to install the default driver. The automatic troubleshooting in Windows has also proved unhelpful. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Ensure that the ssid and passphrase is the same for both router and your laptop. Access the router config page first with ethernet cable, once you have input the ssid and passphrase as well as on the side of your laptop and once it detected the wireless of your laptop, save and exit the router config page and next try detecting the laptop wireless network again, this time using wireless instead with the ethernet cable

I was able to resolve the problem. Thank you for your help. I had to enter the IP configuration data manually. The computer was not detecting the default gateway. You questions did point me in the right direction. :)
