Cannot connect to the internet?
Greetings, I have two computers that are connected to the internet via multiport ethernet switch. One with windows XP and the other is windows 7 and both of them used to work just fine. Couple of days ago i have not been able to connect to the internet via the windows 7. The problem detected by troubleshooting is that my computer is correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding.. I'll appreciate any help.

Other than the switch, is there any router? Have you try connecting directly either by the router or modem thus bypassing the switch for the time being and see how it goes?

Ok so we can assume that your XP box can connect to the internet, right? How do you assign IP addresses to the two computers if you do not use a router? Do you statically assign them? If so copy the IP, subnet mask, gateway, and DNSs form the XP machine and check and see if that the IP is in the same scope and that the DNSs match.v/r LikeToCode....Mark the best replies as answers.

Hi, Have you enable the wireless connection in Windows 7? Disable your antivirus software and firewall as a test. If no go, system restore can be under consideration. Go to Device manager->network card, If you have Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter, disable it. If none, Disable your network adapters and then enable them to check. Several other things you can try: uninstall the VPN software if any and reboot the PC. open Device Manager, Choose View - Show Hidden Devices,Delete any and all Intel networking components;Delete the Microsoft 6to4 Adapter (it will be remade on the reboot);Delete all the Microsoft ISATAP drivers. Reboot, and let the OS detect and remake the network adapters, 6to4, and ISATAP drivers. In addition, install the latest network adapter from the network card vendor's offical website instead of the OEM.
