Cannot connect to router through UTP cable, but can through wireless
Hi all, I have a small home network, as follows: internet /\ || \/ Modem /\ || \/ router (wireless and utp), 2 debian machines, and 1 switch and a wireless access point /\ || \/ Switch, connected to it are 6 machines, 3 vista, 3 xp My vista computer can connect to the router through wireless But my vista computer can not connect to the router by cable (UTP) Debian Linux has only got a cable connection, and CAN connect to the router. For the cable connection on vista: It says it is connected, but cannot identify the network and therefore the connection has limited connectivity (or otherwise said, I can't even connect to the router through ping). It seems that the ip address is not automatically assigned to my vista machine... The router is running as a DHCP server, 50 connections possible, refresh rate of 1 day. I would like to let it that way (because of many devices plugged in and out regularly). The strangest part is that this problem occurred since yesterday, with a fallout of the internet (something wrong with the provider). But now I can't even connect to the router. Resetting the router did not work. Does anybody has a clue?
