Cannot connect to printer 0x0000000d
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. I have a NAS box on the network, which is working fine for disk access. But it also has a printer attached to it's USB socket. When I try to connect to the printer I get a message: Cannot connect to the printer 0x0000000d The printer is accessible and usable from a Windows7 32bit PC on our network, so why the difficulty from my 64bit system? File & Printer Sharing are set both in Ctl Panel / Network & Sharing Centre and in the LAN adapter properties. When I plug in the printer to the NAS, a little "dummy" icon appears in Windows Explorer when browsing the NAS box. I would expect to double-click that to initiate the driver setup (as worked on the Win 7 32 PC), but nothing happens. If I try to connect or to add a printer directly from the printer display, i get the connection error. This same printer (HP LaserJet 1022) has worked fine with Windows 7 64 when attached to my PC by USB. So this is not a driver problem. I see a similar sounding problem with a network printer reported months ago at: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itproinstall/thread/a0cad96e-4a4f-404e-a553-8f5f891a9361 But it is not clear what the answer is.
