Cannot connect to printer, why?
I get the error 0.0000046a when I try to install my i860 Canon printer. The message says "cannot connect to this printer"Does anyone know what this means? It worked fine with the beta but the rc doesn't.Thanks for any help.I forgot to mention I am trying to connect to this printer which is on another computer running Windows XP.. It worked fine under the same setup with the beta as I mentioned.. It works if I hook it up directly to the Windows 7 machine but not over the network. Thanks

You may have to install it directly connected, then after it works that way, just point the driver to the network location.

You may have to install it directly connected, then after it works that way, just point the driver to the network location. I finally found the answer for this yesterday.. The problem is with the IRPStack size. here is the link to the answer http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q177078 this details how to fix the problem. I set my IRPStack size to 21 & it works fine. Thanks to all for any help provided.Another link about this problem http://www.vistax64.com/vista-print-fax-scan/64167-connecting-vista-machine-printer-shared-xp-machine.html This has many posts concerning it.. The 5/22/07 post by Alan Morris [MSFT]has the link to the article with the fix. The fix is for a Vista installation unable to access an XP printer but it worked fine on my Windows 7 rc installation.. again many thanks to all!
