Hi,
I suggest you check the following points.
1. Double Check the physical connection.
2. Run Network Troubleshooter in Windows 7.
3. Try to access \\ComputerName directly to check the shared folder.
4. Disable Firewall and Antivirus programs temporarily.
5. Test the issue in Safe Mode with Networking mode.
6. Start the Workstation service.
7. Install or enable "Client for Microsoft Networks" in the current Local Area Connection Properties.
Good luck!Arthur Li - MSFT

Thanks for the responses, however it's still not working. I went through both of the suggestions from Mual and Arthur_Li but I just cannot connect to our network. I can still connect to the internet.I've gone through all the checking of my connections etc. Had windows diagnose my network, sharing, etc.Any more ideas/suggestions?

Sounds like my problem, internet is OK, intranet is not. Vote if answered or helpful, I am running for Office (joke)!

Hi,
You need to make sure that these computers are on the same workgroup and make sure the IP addresses are on the same network segment.
If not, you may try to assign the IP address manually to check the issue.Arthur Li - MSFT
