Cannot connect to internet vaio vista
Cannot connect top the internet on my Sony Vaio. It's been working fine since I've had it but yesterday it won't connect. My Desk Top and other Laptop work fine. They are Acer & running XP. I have tried to update the network adapter now the Microsoft ISATAP #8 is not there in the Device Manager screen. I have plugged in the Ether net cable and it still wont connect. I have rebooted the sytstem and still wont connect. Have done all the suggested CMD commands and they don't work either. When I go to the Networking and Sharing window it says "Identifying" and just hangs there!! Internet explorer is running without Add ons. I cannot find any recent help on this problem, all date back 3 to 5 years. Come on Microsoft help the little guyt out here and sort your software out!!!! I hope someone can help me this is so frustrating! Thanks

Hi, First, please check if the following link helps: Wired and wireless network connection problems in Windows You may also try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue: 1. Bypass the router and connect to cable modem directly with wire for a test. 2. Temporarily turn off firewall on the machine and router (If it has) and test the issue in Clean Boot. 3. Restart the computer to Safe Mode with Networking to check the result. 4. Configure the connection to obtain an IP address automatically ======================================= a. Click "Start", input "NCPA.CPL" (without quotation marks) to Start Search bar and press "Enter". b. Right-click the network connection and click "Properties". If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. c. Click to highlight "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" and click "Properties". d. Check "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". e. Click "OK". f. Click to highlight "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click "Properties". g. Check "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". h. Click "OK". i. Reboot the computer. What's the result now? Hi Sabrina, Still not working. I have done a system restore as the network apapter Microsoft ISATAP #8 had been removed in a previous attempt to solve this issue. I have followed your instructions and still can't connect. When I go to Network Sharing it hangs on Identifying. Now I have just had a blue screen and have restarted the laptop in Safe Mode with networking.
