Cannot connect to internet
I have bought a used compaq 5610f with no ram and blank hard drive. I tried to load windows xp on it and it said it was but then the computer would not boot up. It came with a SATA drive, so i installed an IDE drive and am now running windows xp home edition on it. It recognizes the both hard drives, but will not run without the IDE drive in it. I have it connected to the cable modem and it says that the network adapter is functioning correctly, but It will not show internet on IE. I have tried to find a driver that will let it work, but only can find Vista drivers for this machine. also, I have tried resetting modem and router to no avail. any Suggestions?1 person needs an answerI do too

HiIf you can not find Win XP drivers for the Network card that is installed in the computer, then you can not have an Internet connection. If you can not find the drivers on the Computer's support page, find from the data sheet the type of network card, and look at the OEM manufacturer site (may be nVidia or AMD).Buying a new card and installing it might help too.Maybe this can further Help, http://www.ezlan.net/debug.html Jack-MVP Windows Networking.
