Cannot connect to SharePoint Libray in Win7
I'm trying to map a drive to a SharePoint Library in Windows 7 and I keep getting the following error when I try: The folder you entered does not appear to be valid. Please choose another. I've mapped to this before to a WinXP client with no issue so I know that the path is correct. Also, when I click the "Open library in Windows Explorer" button on the SharePoint site nothing happens, again the same button works just fine in XP. Most of the digging I've come up with references the webdav service but I'm not seeing anything specific to Windows 7 on this. I'm running the enterprise version with Office 2007 Pro + SP2.

Hi, Regarding the issue, I would like to share the following with you: You receive a "The folder you entered does not appear to be valid" error message when you try to create a Network Place shortcut to SharePoint Portal Server 2003 or to Windows SharePoint Services Hope this helps. I am too experiencing the same problem and the link you sent me didn't work. Not only can I not create a network location link to the SharePoint site. I also can't... Save a document to a document library When opening a document am prompted 1-3 times for credentials Can't open a library in windows explorer view This is utilizing Windows 7 both x86 and x64 using Office 2007. I have tested this locally with my machine. With several different VMs. The only way that I _CAN_ do all of the above is using Windows XP Professional.

I also have exactly the same problem. I've rolled out some Sharepoint sites to some groups of users distributed across my local city. Users who had previously attached to the Sharepoint libraries through Windows Explorer to simplify the adding and copying down of documents are no longer able to do the same since they upgraded to Windows 7. As an IT Adminstrator I've upgraded my home PC to Windows 7 and have exactly the same problem. My Vista Professional laptop has no problem connecting to the same folders at all.

This is how I fixed the issue that we were having. Kinda similar to your problems. It was a DNS issue for me using IPv6. My Scenario: I can access the sharepoint server almost instantly via winXP+IE8 by server name (i.e. http://servername) but when using Win7/Vista+IE8 it would take about 1 minute to show up. In Windows 7/Vista I couldn't even save a word document the way I could with XP running Office 2007. What I did 1st was to try pinging the sharepoint server by name and I got the IPv6 address (which timed out). But when I pinged the server using the IP address, I got a reply. When accessing the sharepoint server using win7+IE8 and typing the IP address (i.e. http://192.168.0.1), it came right up but had authentication issues. So what I did is removed any traces of IPv6 on my Win7 NIC and on the Sharepoint server (running windows 2008). I also went into DNS and removed the IPv6 addresses that were associated with the WSS server and win7 pc. Did an ipconfig /flushdns on the win7 pc and I was able to instantly access the sharepoint server. Very important that you disable IPv6 on the NIC especially on the Sharepoint server, because it came back in DNS. Had to delete it again. I can now create a network location to the Sharepoint site, save a document to a library, and open a library in windows explorer view all when using Windows 7/Vista. Hope this helps.
