Cannot connect to NAS drive on Network
UsingVista Ultimate.I am unable to connect to my NAS drive to view files stored on it.The NAS drive has ip 192.168.2.6 and i AM able to ping it with successful replies. However the NAS drive does not show up in the DHCP list on my router. I have been told by tech support of the NAS drive that typing \\192.168.2.6 in explorer should open the NAS drive contents, but it does not, instead giving the error:192.168.2.6 is not set up to establish a connection on port "Firewall and printer sharing (SMP)" with this computer.error code: 0x80070043The network name cannot be foundany help on this would be great. Thanks

Hi, Thank you for your post. Please make sure that the NAS drive status is normal. As a test, please also try to reset and reconfigure you NAS with the users guide. ( Please note your data security.) Based on my research, I will suggest the following: 1. Regarding the error 192.168.2.6 is not set up to establish a connection on port Firewall and printer sharing (SMP) with this computer., it may be a firewall issue or it can be the NASs problem. Lets check the firewall settings on the computer first: Make sure that File and Printer Sharing is not blocked by Windows Firewall =============================================== 1) Click Start, type firewall.cpl in the Search Bar and press ENTER. 2) Click the Change settings link. 3) On the General tab, make sure that the Block all incoming connections check box is not selected. 4) Click the Exceptions tab. 5) On the Exceptions tab, make sure that the File and Printer Sharing check box is selected, and then click OK. Please also see the following: Troubleshoot file and printer sharing http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/90373f67-6ea5-4fb2-84fa-19da351a6d451033.mspx 2. Please also disable the security software (Antivirus, firewall, anti-spyware, etc.) to see if it works. 3. If you have another computer, please add it to the network and see if the NAS can be accessed. Or, you can take the NAS to another LAN to check the results. Since the issue is related to the hardware, it is also recommended that you contact its manufacture for further troubleshooting. Hope the issue can be resolved soon. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT
