Cannot connect Windows 7 computer to XP computer through a print server switch
We recently replaced and XP computer with a new one with 7. The home network also has another XP computer but there is a 4-port print server switch between them. The XP computer can see the 7 computer, but Windows 7 says it cannot discover any devices on the network. There is also a printer on the print server.Any clues?

Did you turn on network discovery along with file and print sharing? Here's something for you to review and should help with the networking portion and sharing of the printer. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-7/share-files-and-printers-between-windows-7-and-xp/MCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. Hi, Please assure the following options are selected. a. Click Start and open Control Panel. b. Open "Network and Sharing Center" and click "Advanced sharing settings". c. Expand the current network profile (such as "Home or Work"), and then select the following options: "Turn on Network Discovery", "Turn on file and printer sharing", "Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can read and write files in the Public folders", "Turn off password protected sharing" If the issue persists, I suggest you temporarily turn off firewall on Windows 7 and check the result again. Thanks, Novak

See if you can ping the computer. If so, try connecting from the commandline with: net use H: \\xpcomputername\sharename /user:xpusername password On all Windows versions, this is a more reliable approach. (For a commandline, type 'cmd' into the search box) Beware: The majority of Twitter users are terrorists!
