Cannot clear Admin Events
Hi; I have 32 events (errors and warnings) listed in the Administrator Events filter. Despite having cleared all event logs from the Windows folder, the admin events will not clear. Some of these events go back 6 months, and I no longer need to see them. Is there a way to clear these events? Thanks FW

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking me for, so here is a screenshot of the event log

i ment in the section below the listing of the events, though you have the log as a column in your view as well. many of the events in your view are not from the windows logs but found in the "Applications and Services Logs" on the left hand menue. you will have to clear those as well if you want to have them gone from the list

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking me for, so here is a screenshot of the event log Hi Track7 Just to clarify, the Administrative Events view is simply a compilation of all the other Event Logs. For instance in the image you posted, the events from the log Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-EventTracing/Admin are from the Application and Service Logs\Microsoft\Windows\Kernel EventTracing\Admin log. To completely clear the Administrative Events view, you must clear all of the individual logs that are shown in that view. Hope this helps. Thank You for using Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

Isn't there a tool that I can use to clear all of the logs at once instead of having to open each individual log? I suppose that a lot of logging is a good thing for troubleshooting, but it often leads me down a dead-end of troubleshooting for something I should have ignored in the first place. But I don't like to ignore warnings. If they are not important to the operation of my system, I would like to disable reporting of such warnings. I see that I can disable an individual log; is this the way I would get rid of the annoying warnings? I will have to check with the Windows 7 Resource kit, since I bought it a while back and haven't spent much time with it. Thanks for your help FW

Hi FW I'm not aware of any way to clear all of the event logs at once? You might want to review the information in the following article. What information appears in event logs (Event Viewer)? There are ways that you can restrict the size of the logs or filter the information that is recorded. The Resource Kit will have this information. Thanks for your help FW On this site is a batch file that will clear ALL the logs: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?s=39f67ac9ade8cf585d0c8e0b0e411999&p=1613265&postcount=8 I use it after checking out the logs I want to look at. That way, all older events are cleared and the next time I look there are only the newer events. SC Tom
