Cannot browse chm files
Hi all I'm trying to view a chm file stored on the network but I fail to that getting the error "Navigation to the web page was canceled". I'm using Windows 7 x64. I know that I had this problem in Windows XP SP 2 but I found the workaround immediately at that time. I have also searched this time but I couldn't solve the problem. I have modified some registries, I have made the same modification in the x64 part of registry accordingly to an article found on microsoft.com regarding registry in windows 7 x64, and so on. Nothing worked. Does anybody knows the RIGHT answer? Thank you!

Hi, There are some reason caused .chm files cannot open: 1. HTML Help (CHM) Viewer Component Is Not Registered 2. Your CHM File Has the "#" Hash Character in the Filename or in the Directory Name. 3. Your CHM is Blocked by a Security Update for Windows XP or Vista 4. Your CHM File is in a Restricted Internet Zone You can refer: Why My CHM File is not Displayed Correctly To troubleshoot your issue, you can try download the .chm file to your computer first, right-mouse click it in Windows Explorer and select Properties. Then click Unblock. Thank you for your answer but unfortunately it doesn't help. To be honest, I wasn't expecting a solution, this is still Microsoft, I can't get answers or good products from it. For example, I have opened a topic on a linux forum and after a half of hour I had the first answer, next day I had the solution... . I had already specified that I'm using Windows 7 x64 and I have tried the trick with the registry change. It didn't and it still doesn't work. I there any developer from Microsoft that could give an answer... a good one? Thank you in advance!

I had the same problem I tried everything specified in the support. My folder name that has these .CHM files has "#" that was the reason for me. Just to update so that this might help someone in future .
