Cannot add Windows 7 professional to Windows 2003 Domain
I have a very interesting problem. The company I work for just purchased some new Windows 7 Professional machines. We have about 30 clients all running Windows XP Professional SP3 now. We have a Server running Windows 2003 R2 Standard Edition. All the computer can connect to the domain without any issues. However when I tried to add one of the new laptops running W7 Pro it would'nt connect to the domain. Here is what it can do: I can login to the computer and go the internet. I can even see it in Active Directory. Can ping the default gateway. Here are the things it is not doing: I cannot ping the server IP or name. 100% packet loss. Cannot access of see any of the computers on the domain. Cannot map network drives. cannot see printers. cannot sync my outlook. cannot ping .com's. Does anyone have an idea?

I can login to the computer thats on the domain. But I cannot ping the Server using the IP and or name. I cannot map network drives that are on the server. cannot ping .com websites but can access the internet and go to those site I cannot ping. I cannot see any of the computers or printers on the network. However if I go to the server I can see the new windows 7 machine in Active Directory. It has to be a problem and/ or setting on this new machine. I really don't thinks its Server side because no one else is having problems. Is there a setting I'm missing?

What DNS server is the Windows 7 computer using? Is it the domain controller or a router or ISP DNS server. For Active Directory to work properly you have to use and AD integrated DNS server running on a domain controller. What security software is installed on the Windows 7 computer? When you first connected to the network and were asked what type of network did you pick Work, Home, or Public? Please post the results of ipconfig /all for further diagnosis. Thanks. Thanks guys for all the help. It ended up being a problem with are Cisco ASDM. It was assigning a different MAC address to the computer. So we Statically assigned the MAC and it worked. Very strange problem. Case can be closed
