Cannot access wireless internet at school or library. HP Wireless Assistant icon will not open.
Hi!I have a HP Pavilion dv2000- Windows XP. My wireless switch works fine, I can turn it off and on. But I cannot use the wireless tool to get on the internet at school or at the library. I tried going to the HP wireless assistant icon, but it will not open. It opened before, but it doesn't do anything now.At the time, Brent from Microsoft Answers Support Engineer, suggested that the user, who was having problems with their wireless connection to do the following: "...Before calling HP to have it checked out, go to HP's website and download and install the latest driver for your wireless card and see if that fixes the problem. If that doesn't fix it, give HP's support a call. They will likely have to service the computer."http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/ProductList.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=3185026I followed his advice and the download was successful, however when it came to installing the program I get this message: HP Wireless Assistant setup ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, please run the installation again. I tried over and over again, I still get the same message. Can someone please help me. I really don't know what to do.

At this point I would probably call HP Support. There may be a hardware issue with your device. -B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com | http://www.onenote-tips.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook

HiIf the HP Wireless Manager works at the same time that Windows Wireless Utility (WZC) does, the wireless will not work as it should.Make a decision which one you want to use and disable the other.http://www.ezlan.net/wzc.html Jack-MVP Windows Networking. WWW.EZLAN.NET
