Cannot access the backup facility in XP Prof
I have used the XP Prof backup wizard many times. Desktop system is XP Prof SP3. Tonight I went to backup and from start acessories system backup--all I get is an hour glass for a few secs and then it is gone. No wizard, no start up box, nothing. The backup icon is in my start menu and when I right click the properties I see that it is at %SystemRoot%\system32\ntbackup.exe but for some reason I cannot start it. I also tried going to run and typing ntbackup.exe--same result--an hour glass for a few sec. If I shut down my computer it tries to end the backup program but I do not see any box like before when the program starts so looks like all is happening in secret. I checked the other system tools--restore etc.--and they all come up ok. Any help on how to get this working is appreciated. It is there but just do not know how to access it. Thanks!
