Cannot access printers or shared folders on computer running Windows 2000
I have Windows 7 installed on my laptop (named Dell-Studio) and have Windows XP Professional and Windows 2000 on my network. Files and printers are shared and are accessible all over the network. I can access the computer running Windows XP Professional without any hassle but when I try to access the computer running Windows 2000 (named Workstation) to install printer which is HP LaserJet 1300, it asks me for a password. The login it gives there is Dell-Studio\Workstation. So I cannot access that computer nor can install the printerbyinstalling a local printer on the Windows 7 machine and then changing the port. Please help

Hi, To make the issue clear, please capture a screenshot on the prompt which is asking for a password: Capture a screenshot ============== 1) When the prompt appears, press the Print Screen key (PrtScn) on your keyboard. 2) Click the "Start" menu, type "mspaint" in the Search Bar and Press Enter. 3) In the Paint program, click the "Edit" menu, click "Paste", click the "File" menu, and click "Save". 4) The "Save As" dialogue box will appear. Type a file name in the "File name:" box, for example: "screenshot". 5) Make sure "JPEG (*.JPG;*.JPEG;*.JPE;*.JFIF)" is selected in the "Save as type" box, click Desktop on the left pane and then click "Save". Please use Windows Live SkyDrive to upload the screenshots and share its URL with us. At this time, please also try the following to see if it helps: 1. Enable NTLM 2 authentication on Windows 2000 computer How to enable NTLM 2 authentication LmCompatibilityLevel 2. Disable Password Protected sharing on Windows 7 computer: 1) Open Network and Sharing Center. 2) Click Change Advanced sharing settings. 3) Select Turn off password protected sharing under Password protected sharing. Hope this helps. Thanks.Nicholas Li - MSFT
