Cannot access or even ping linux: One-way-connection?
I installed Windows 7 RC on my desktop, and everything, even very old printer and scanner and so on, is working perfectly. Even Draft-N WLAN is working fine, left for one small detail. But first, my network setup: 1) One PC, Windows 7, connected to Router via WLAN, DHCP: 192.168.42.42 2) One Laptop, Linux/Windows XP, connected to Router via WLAN, DHCP: 192.168.42.23 3) One NAS-like Server (NSLU2 running Linux), connected to Router via Cable, DHCP: 192.168.42.77 4) Router, connected to whole rest of the world: 192.168.42.1 On the PC, I can: - Ping the NAS, access its drives, access its print server and so on. - Access the Internet I can however NOT ping the Laptop, but ONLY if Linux is running. When running WinXP on the Laptop, I can ping, name resolution works, everything. But trying to ping Linux, name resolution can't find the host, and pinging the IP-address says: Host unreachable. The laptop does show up in the network environment, but is (of course) unaccessible from there too. There is no Firewall running on the laptop. One more interesting point: I can ping Windows 7 from the laptop, and I can access its shared folders. Anybody got an idea? The only answer near to my problem I found so far is about NTLMv2, but that did not help at all. For completeness, here is ipconfig (in german): Drahtlos-LAN-Adapter SMC: Verbindungsspezifisches DNS-Suffix: IPv4-Adresse . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.42.42 Subnetzmaske . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Standardgateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.42.1

After much fiddling with both Windows and Linux, IPv6 and IPv4, Firewalls and Samba, it finally started to work this morning... after I installed the latest Windows 7 Updates. I hope I did not kill any other functionalities in my fruitless attempts...
